Arrive in Auckland, New Zealand's largest city, beautifully set between two harbours and shaped by ancient volcanoes. Check in to the hotel and settle into the relaxed rhythm of the country before visiting the iconic Sky Tower, where sweeping views offer the perfect introduction to the journey ahead.
Journey to the Waitomo Caves, where tiny magical glowworms light up the underground space, creating one of New Zealand's most unusual natural experiences. Later, drive to Rotorua, the country's geothermal and cultural heart, where steaming landscapes and a deep Māori heritage make it unlike anywhere else in New Zealand.
Today showcases the remarkable variety of New Zealand in a single day. Begin at the Te Rā Geothermal Reserve, where the scent of sulphur fills the air and bubbling mud pools and the mighty Pōhutu Geyser reveal the region's volcanic heart. Then meet Māori master carvers and gain an insight into the traditions of New Zealand's indigenous people. Later, experience life on a working sheep farm at the Agrodome. End the day at the Redwoods Treewalk, crossing suspension bridges high amongst towering redwood trees.
Sit back and enjoy one of New Zealand's great road journeys as you travel through rolling countryside and volcanic landscapes. Pause at Lake Taupō, a vast crater lake formed by one of the world's largest volcanic eruptions and today the country's largest freshwater lake, before continuing to Wellington. A short city tour and time at leisure reveal New Zealand's compact capital, known for its lively waterfront and café culture.
Board the ferry from Wellington to Picton, one of New Zealand's great scenic journeys. Sail through the Marlborough Sounds, a maze of forested hills and sheltered waterways, before travelling through Blenheim, the heart of New Zealand's wine country, and Kaikōura, a dramatic coastal town where mountains meet the Pacific Ocean. Continue inland through North Canterbury to Christchurch before checking in and enjoying a leisurely evening.
Discover Christchurch, affectionately known as the Garden City, where green spaces, heritage buildings and remarkable renewal sit side by side. Later, visit the International Antarctic Centre and experience the world of Antarctic explorers through interactive exhibits that bring the frozen continent vividly to life.
Today's drive reveals why the South Island is considered one of the world's great road-trip destinations. Travel through landscapes of turquoise lakes, braided rivers and distant peaks before arriving in Twizel, a small alpine town surrounded by some of New Zealand's most spectacular mountain scenery.
Journey through New Zealand's celebrated Southern Lakes region, where every turn reveals another lake, mountain or wide-open landscape. Pause in the lakeside town of Wānaka and visit Puzzling World, famous for its illusion rooms and world-renowned maze, before continuing to Te Anau, a peaceful town on the shores of New Zealand's second-largest lake and the gateway to Fiordland National Park.
Travel the famed Milford Road through ancient rainforests, glacier-carved valleys and dramatic mountain scenery to Milford Sound, a spectacular fiord shaped by ice over millions of years. Towering cliffs, cascading waterfalls and the chance to spot seals and dolphins make this one of New Zealand's most extraordinary natural wonders.
Travel through Mossburn, known as New Zealand's deer capital for its long association with deer farming, before arriving in Queenstown. Beautifully set beside Lake Wakatipu, the town is also New Zealand's famed adventure capital. Check into the hotel and settle in before ending the day with a classic wine experience amidst one of the country's most scenic landscapes.
Begin the day with a city tour and ride the Skyline Gondola to Bob's Peak for sweeping views across Queenstown and Lake Wakatipu. The afternoon is yours to shape as you wish—perhaps with a bungee jump, a scenic helicopter flight or a lake cruise, or simply by exploring the town's cafés, boutiques and lakeside walks. Later, end the day with an exhilarating jet boat ride through two of the region's scenic rivers.
Depart with memories of a country where glowworm caves, geothermal landscapes, alpine lakes and dramatic fiords came together to reveal one of the world's most beautiful island nations.
